PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between tj hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, tj hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pepper throws a series of punches but hawk moves out of range.

Pepper tries to keep at a distance but hawk has taken the fight into the clinch.

hawk gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pepper regains guard.
Pepper looking for a sweep. Not yet Pepper, not yet.
hawk trying to control but Pepper is working from the bottom.

Pepper working for a triangle but hawk defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pepper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in hawk's guard.
Pepper trying to control the position from guard on top but hawk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pepper wants to pass the guard but hawk is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pepper is in close to hawk's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pepper pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. hawk is keeping the position for now.
Pepper missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Pepper is stalling in the full guard.

Pepper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Pepper trying to control the position from guard on top but hawk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

hawk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pepper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
hawk wants to stand and escape but Pepper is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pepper drops back looking for a leg! hawk is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and hawk manages to kick Pepper off! Pepper jumps back into hawk's guard.
Pepper looks gassed!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pepper clinches but hawk breaks the clinch

and hawk counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by hawk.
Pepper being controlled here, momentarily.
hawk has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
hawk trying to control but Pepper is working from the bottom.

Pepper working for submissions but it's allowed hawk to get to half guard.
hawk content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

hawk is trying to control the action in half guard but Pepper is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
hawk is taking a breather. Pepper says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee stands the fighters back up. tj hawk just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

hawk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than hawk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
hawk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pepper manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Pepper trying to hold on to hawk's head to control him but hawk postures up.
hawk is keen to just control but Pepper is a slippery customer.
Pepper is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of hawk's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take hawk's back!

Pepper working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. hawk is doing well to defend. Pepper seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! hawk is forced to tap and this one is over!
