The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gates defends well and Junior ends up having to push Gates into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gates on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Gates fails to land with a series of punches.
Junior tries to counter with a clinch but Gates shakes him off and moves away.
Junior changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gates tries to avoid it but Junior manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gates to the ground. Gates escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gates connects with a jab.
It looks like Al Qowy Junior has been cut.
Horrible takedown attempt by Junior or perhaps it was just good defense by Gates, which made it look bad.

Junior is trying to drag Gates to the mat but Gates just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Gates shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Junior eats them both and turns towards Gates to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Junior shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Junior was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gates, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
