Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rustam Arlovski!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arlovski pushes Penn up against the cage in a clinch.
Penn has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Arlovski after a bit of a struggle.
Arlovski is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Penn stalls.
Penn fails to pull guard.
Penn jumps guard but Arlovski turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Dee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Arlovski tries to break free but Penn pushes him back against the cage.

Arlovski breaks from the clinch.

Arlovski moves into range and clinches up with Penn.

Arlovski pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn shoots in for a double leg but Arlovski sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Arlovski moves into range and clinches up with Penn.
Arlovski gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Penn.
Penn prevents a body shot from Arlovski.

Arlovski turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Arlovski is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Arlovski tries to move into full mount but can't pass Penn's legs.
Penn tries to buck Arlovski off but Arlovski is having none of it.
Arlovski remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Arlovski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Penn sneaks back into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn is looking to escape.
Penn is trying to get back to full guard.
Penn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Penn throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Arlovski is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Penn trying to control here.
Arlovski not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Penn on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Penn tries to get out of the position.

Penn is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Arlovski pulls his head out easily.

Penn looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Arlovski controlling the action here.
Let's hope that Arlovski has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Penn tries to get to full guard but Arlovski has control of the leg.
Arlovski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Penn keeps working.
Arlovski slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Arlovski has taken the fight to the clinch.

Penn decides to pull guard.

Penn has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Arlovski doesn't defend quickly enough and Penn has managed to lock this one up! Can Arlovski escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Penn on a fantastic submission victory.
