Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Halloway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose De La Hoya!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halloway tries for a takedown but De La Hoya circles away easily
and De La Hoya counters with a left to the body.
Halloway misses with a takedown attempt
and De La Hoya connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Halloway misses with a kick to the body
and De La Hoya cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Jeff Halloway has been cut.
Halloway fails in his attempt to clinch.

De La Hoya gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
De La Hoya wants to stand and escape but Halloway is having none of it.
Halloway might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Halloway passes De La Hoya's left leg - he's now in half guard.
De La Hoya is trying to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
De La Hoya is looking to get back to is feet but Halloway passes into side control.
De La Hoya tries to escape but Halloway is in control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De La Hoya can do anything to dispel that myth.
Halloway is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt De La Hoya will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
De La Hoya wants to get back to his feet but Halloway drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Halloway grinds an elbow into De La Hoya's temple.

De La Hoya tries to escape back to his feet but Halloway has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got De La Hoya's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! De La Hoya is tapping! Halloway saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jeff Halloway!
