Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Christian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curtis Ruttenum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Curtis Ruttenum!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruttenum tries to score a power double leg takedown but Christian sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruttenum somewhat.

Ruttenum looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ruttenum is keen to just control but Christian is a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ruttenum is looking for a kimura but Christian is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ruttenum to get the leverage.
Christian wants to get back to full guard.
Christian holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Christian is looking to control Ruttenum's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Christian avoid being mounted?
Ruttenum tries to stand but can't do so whilst Christian controls his leg.

Ruttenum is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Christian still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Christian has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Christian is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ruttenum is just riding it out for now. Christian eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Christian working over Ruttenum with some ground and pound. Ruttenum looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Ruttenum is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Christian pulls his head out easily.
Christian throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ruttenum is trying to control but can't.
Ruttenum tries to roll over but Christian keeps him under control.

Christian slips a nice elbow through Ruttenum's hands, connecting with Ruttenum's forehead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ruttenum tries to get to full guard but Christian has control of the leg.
Christian will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Christian lands with a punch from half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ruttenum misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ruttenum shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Christian counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Christian wants to improve his position but Ruttenum is controlling well.
Christian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ruttenum is nestled in close to Christian, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ruttenum is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Christian defends it well.

Ruttenum is working for an americana but Christian has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Ruttenum was thinking about the submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Christian fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ruttenum shoots in looking for a takedown. Christian tries to sprawl out of it but Ruttenum keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Christian manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ruttenum is breathing heavily.
Ruttenum misses with a takedown attempt - Christian sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ruttenum gets caught flat footed, as Christian shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Christian lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Christian working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Ruttenum makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ruttenum.

Christian is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ruttenum can do to turn this around?
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Christian's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Christian closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Christian lands in his opponent's guard.
Christian wants to control from the top but Ruttenum keeps moving.
Ruttenum is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Christian is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ruttenum is pulling down on Christian's head. It's preventing any offense from Christian, at least for the moment.

Christian drops back looking for a leg! Ruttenum is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ruttenum manages to kick Christian off! Christian jumps back into Ruttenum's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ruttenum shoots for a takedown but Christian saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Ruttenum takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ruttenum leaves Christian with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Christian drives through and clinches with Ruttenum against the cage.
Ruttenum is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Christian is defending well.
Alberto Christian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Ruttenum.
Ruttenum is trying to drag Christian to the mat but Christian just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ruttenum can't get the takedown.

Christian ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Christian no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Christian has his hands on Ruttenum's head, controlling the position.
Ruttenum tries to free his leg and advance position but Christian is retaining full guard.
Christian pulls Ruttenum in close to prevent any damage.
Alberto Christian overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Christian looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Christian has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ruttenum can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well Christian has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
