PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frederic Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Me (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Me is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Me!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Me clinches up against the cage.

Bean has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Me regains guard immediately.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Me looking for a sweep. Not yet Me, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Me has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bean is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Me.
Me is trying to get back to half guard.

Me tries to improve position but can't.
Sloppy strikes there by Bean.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Me tries to buck Bean off but Bean is having none of it.

You can see the frustration on Me's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Me is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bean lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Me at a distance.
Me throws a series of punches but Bean avoids them all with ease.

Me fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bean is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Me.
Me throws a head kick but Bean moves out of range.
Me goes for a double leg but Bean avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bean continues to drive forward.
Bean seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Jack Me seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Frederic Bean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Me.

Me is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bean is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Me to the mat. Me regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Bean has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Me is proving hard to escape from.
Bean is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bean wants to stand but Me is controlling his posture from full guard.

Me is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Me looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bean with a nice head shot there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bean lands a couple of digs.
Bean wants to stand but Me has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Bean's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Me shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bean manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Me got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bean has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Me has managed to get both his arms back between Bean's legs - danger averted.
Bean not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Me must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bean is trying to keep Me in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bean stuffs the takedown.
Bean went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Me tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bean defends well and Me ends up having to push Bean into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Me looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bean is fending him off so far but Me persists. Nope, Bean circles away and we're back to standing.
As Me tries to get set, Bean tries to push him back and clinch up but Me manages to avoid the attempt.
Frederic Bean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Me.
Me is breathing heavily.
Me tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bean swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bean thinks about countering with a head kick.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bean tries to clinch up but Me circles away and keeps his distance.

Bean jumps guard and drags Me to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bean keeping moving, preventing Me from controlling successfully.
Me loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bean is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Me can do to turn this around?
Me throws a big elbow that misses.
Bean doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Bean is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Me in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Me shoots in but Bean avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Me shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bean as he jumps to the side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Me shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bean pinned against the cage. Bean gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bean blocks a head kick by Me.
Bean is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Me.

Bean wanted to stand there but Me had control of the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frederic Bean will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Me controls Bean momentarily but Bean frees himself.

Bean keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
As Me tries to get set, Bean tries to push him back and clinch up but Me manages to avoid the attempt.
Me takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Me has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bean is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Me pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Me gets control of Bean's arms and successfully pulls guard. Me will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Bean postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Bean drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Me manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bean has Me in his guard.

Me wants to take a breather but Bean is having none of it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Me is keen to just control but Bean is a slippery customer.

Me wants to work for an arm triangle but Bean is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jack Me comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bean has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
