Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Korey Gaines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kane Smith!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
Gaines thinks about countering with a body kick.
Smith takes a swing at Gaines's ribcage but misses.
And Gaines counters with a quick kick to the body but Smith blocks it.
Gaines gets caught napping as Smith dives in and scores a takedown. Gaines manages to retain guard.
Gaines controlling the position.
Gaines throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Gaines is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well.
Gaines will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaines thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Smith slips nicely into half guard.
Gaines really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smith trying to mount his opponent but Gaines defends it.

Smith wants to get back to his feet.
Gaines gets full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Gaines is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gaines looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Smith tries to stand but Gaines is controlling from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gaines thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gaines shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Gaines keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gaines avoids the head kick by Smith.
Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smith looks winded!
Gaines missing with punches from the bottom.
Gaines flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gaines is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Smith has latched onto it... Big trouble! Smith pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Gaines is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Smith!
