The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole tries to clinch but Lahey is having none of it.

Cole shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Cole looking to sit in guard and control but Lahey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Lahey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cole swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lahey drops back looking for a leg! Cole is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cole manages to kick Lahey off! Lahey jumps back into Cole's guard.

Lahey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cole is trying to control the position but Lahey postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
