PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ron Whitley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brady Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henderson has chosen Foggy Dew/Notorious as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Whitley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brady Henderson!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Whitley drives through with a takedown into Henderson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Henderson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Whitley throws a big elbow that misses.
Whitley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Whitley drops back looking for a leg! Henderson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Henderson manages to kick Whitley off! Whitley jumps back into Henderson's guard.
Henderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Whitley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Whitley is working Henderson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Whitley makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Whitley lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Whitley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Whitley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Whitley gets to his feet - Henderson follows without any prompting.
Whitley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Henderson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Henderson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Henderson tries to counter by closing the distance.

Henderson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Henderson wants it to stay on the feet.
Whitley shoots in for a takedown but Henderson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Whitley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Whitley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Whitley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Whitley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Whitley closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Henderson quickly recovers to half guard.
Whitley throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Henderson has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Henderson is breathing heavily.
