Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liha Rekka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liha Rekka is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Liha Rekka!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from John is predictable there
and Rekka counters with a left and a right that stings John.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from John is defended easily by Rekka.
Rekka is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Rekka scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Big John has been cut.
Rekka paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Rekka misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As Rekka looks to move away, John throws a big counter combo but Rekka just gets out of the way.
John misses with a head kick.
John takes a kick to the side of the head.
John misses with a head kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
John throws a leg kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rekka feints and then cracks John's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow John down.
John doesn't manage to clinch there - Rekka circles away.
Liha Rekka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
John throws a leg kick that is checked

and Rekka counters by clinching up.
John is working for takedown but Rekka is calmly controlling the position for now.
Rekka lands a left hand that snaps the head of John backwards.
John looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rekka is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
John is breathing heavily.

Rekka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rekka fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Rekka pushes John up against the cage in a clinch.
Rekka lands a hook to the side of the head.
John takes a knee to the side of the body.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Rekka.
Rekka scores with a knee to the head.
Rekka digs a right hand into John's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on John's gas tank.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rekka has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rekka scores a nice knee to the body.

Rekka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
John looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
John has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rekka finds it's way round the side to connect with John's head.
John falls off balance throwing a combination
and Rekka counters with an inside leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donk. Rekka catches John right on the button with a cross.

John is rocked!
Liha Rekka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
John gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Rekka gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! John is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
