And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, B J Sarnice!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Murphy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sarnice tries to bum rush Murphy with a series of wild strikes but Murphy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Murphy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Sarnice ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Murphy is breathing heavily.
Murphy dodges the punch combination from Sarnice.

Sarnice decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Oh Murphy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sarnice darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Murphy seems to have got his legs back now.
Murphy is looking to improve his position.

Sarnice is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murphy is just riding it out for now. Sarnice eventually gives up the hold.
Sarnice wants to stand up but Murphy has a hold of him and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Murphy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sarnice has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Murphy is proving hard to escape from.
Sarnice must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Sarnice counters by clinching up.
Murphy keeps control of Sarnice as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Murphy is trying to drag Sarnice to the mat but Sarnice just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Sarnice breaks from the clinch.

Sarnice will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A combination from Murphy does no damage.
Good work by Murphy as he checks the leg kick.
Murphy takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Sarnice shoots in but Murphy avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Sarnice closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sarnice lands in his opponent's guard.

Murphy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sarnice gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Murphy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sarnice manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Murphy stands up and waves to Sarnice to follow him.

and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sarnice won't be happy with that.
Sarnice is not content to let Murphy control the position.

Murphy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Sarnice's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sarnice can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sarnice fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Murphy sprawls well initially but Sarnice persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Sarnice counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sarnice.
Murphy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sarnice is one step ahead there.

Sarnice stands and steps away. Murphy gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Murphy misses with a series of wild punches.

Sarnice clinches with his opponent.
Sarnice is looking to break free of the clinch but Murphy has double underhooks.
Sarnice blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Murphy drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sarnice pulls his leg out and moves away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sarnice stops a takedown attempt from Murphy.

Sarnice breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sarnice throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Murphy counters with a left and a right that stings Sarnice.

Murphy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ed Murphy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Murphy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sarnice is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Murphy, into his guard.
