Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Diego Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tapio Sammalkorpi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira goes for a double leg but Sammalkorpi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sammalkorpi continues to drive forward.
Ferreira tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sammalkorpi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Sammalkorpi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ferreira.

Ferreira has hold of one of Sammalkorpi's legs. Sammalkorpi is fighting the takedown attempt but Ferreira gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Sammalkorpi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ferreira can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ferreira got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sammalkorpi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ferreira has managed to get both his arms back between Sammalkorpi's legs - danger averted.

Sammalkorpi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ferreira doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ferreira manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferreira pushes down on Sammalkorpi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
