Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luciano Pacheco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lindsay Brain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luciano Pacheco has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luciano Pacheco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lindsay Brain!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brain throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pacheco was covering up waiting for the punch and Brain finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brain missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brain trying to control the position from guard on top but Pacheco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pacheco looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Brain controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Pacheco seems keen to control Brain's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Brain shoots in and bounces Pacheco off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Pacheco pushes Brain off and scrambles back to his feet.

Brain moves into the clinch.
Pacheco jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Brain walks away with a smile on his face. Pacheco gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Brain fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pacheco, pushing him back against the cage.

Brain is trying to trip Pacheco. He has hold of a leg but Pacheco is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Brain persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pacheco has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Pacheco scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Brain scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Pacheco pushes Brain off and gets back to his feet.
Brain throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Brain gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Brain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pacheco shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pacheco postures up in Brain's guard and throws a big left but Brain blocks it.
Brain is trying to control the position but Pacheco postures up.
Pacheco is looking to work some ground and pound but Brain has wrist control.
Brain is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pacheco is controlling him.

Brain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pacheco. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brain wants to improve his position but instead Pacheco has moved into half guard.
Brain is trying to maintain the position but Pacheco is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Brain rushes Pacheco and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brain fakes the leg kick and cracks Pacheco in the body.
Pacheco on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.


It looks like Luciano Pacheco has been cut.
Brain misses with a shot to the body

and Pacheco counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brain won't be happy with that.

Brain bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Brain shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pacheco's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brain is breathing heavily.
Pacheco controls Brain momentarily but Brain frees himself.

Pacheco is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Brain defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lindsay Brain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Luciano Pacheco's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Brain gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Brain is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pacheco is defending well for now.
Brain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pacheco has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brain uses from the top position.
Brain wants to stand but Pacheco has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pacheco throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Brain manages to pass to side control.

Pacheco is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Brain is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pacheco doesn't manage to clinch there - Brain circles away.

Brain darts in and clinches Pacheco up against the cage.
Pacheco is trying to pull guard but Brain has him pressed against the cage.
Pacheco blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Brain is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Brain jumps into guard, dragging Pacheco to the mat.
Brain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pacheco trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Pacheco stands up over Brain, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Pacheco with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Pacheco postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lindsay Brain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Brain has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
