Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cortez Merritt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skullkrusher Blackhand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blackhand fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Merritt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Merritt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Blackhand to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Merritt tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Merritt is looking for a triangle but Blackhand pushes his legs off easily.

Blackhand has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Merritt wants to sweep but no luck.
Blackhand tries to free his leg and advance position but Merritt is retaining full guard.
Merritt can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Blackhand controls the pace.
Merritt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Blackhand content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Blackhand stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Merritt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blackhand lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Blackhand wants to free his trapped foot but Merritt is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Merritt wants to get back to full guard but Blackhand has passed into side control.
Merritt is looking to regain half guard here but Blackhand keeps moving and retains side control.

Blackhand tries to advance to mount but Merritt denies him.
Merritt wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Blackhand has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Merritt's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Merritt is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Blackhand!
