Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luigi Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jasper Irving (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Luigi Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jasper Irving!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irving stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Irving wants it to stay on the feet.
Irving appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Irving swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A slow jab from Bates misses its intended target.
Irving avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Irving lands with an overhand left.
Irving swings for the body but Bates moves out of range.
Irving fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bates manages to avoid it.
Bates stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Bates avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Irving defending well as Bates loads up on a big left hand.
A countering left hand to the body from Irving misses.
Bates looks to land a left hand but Irving moved out of range nicely.
Bates keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Irving is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bates rather than just go for the knockout.

Bates shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Irving manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bates tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bates has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bates wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Irving, who protects the arm well.

Bates wants to control but Irving is keeping him busy.

Bates is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Irving is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bates tries for a kimura but Irving is defending well.
Irving is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Bates goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Irving has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bates but great work by Irving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bates is looking for a sweep.
Bates gets back to half guard.
Irving is thwarting Bates's attempts to control the position.
Bates is looking to improve his position.
Bates trying to get back to full guard but Irving takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Irving looking to control but Bates is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bates is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Luigi Bates will probably get the nod.

Irving walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Bates ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Bates shoots in looking for a takedown but Irving manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bates's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Irving keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The fighters circling - Bates throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A nice side step and Irving releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Bates bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Irving's guard.

Bates is looking to pass into half guard but Irving pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Irving is in guard.

Luigi Bates overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bates is looking for a triangle but Irving pushes his legs off easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bates is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Irving digs a good body shot into Bates's ribs.
Bates shoots in looking for a takedown. Irving tries to sprawl out of it but Bates keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Irving manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Bates looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Irving is fending him off so far but Bates persists. Nope, Irving circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bates changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Irving tries to avoid it but Bates manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Irving to the ground. Irving escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bates fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Irving manages to avoid it.
Irving was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Decent striking displayed by Irving there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jasper Irving showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Irving lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Bates takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Bates tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Irving defends well and Bates ends up having to push Irving into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Irving throws out a counter right but Bates avoids it with no problem.
Bates throws a jab when Irving was well out of range.
Irving ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Bates shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Irving as he avoids it easily.
Irving lands a slapping body shot.
Bates avoids the body shot from Irving.
Irving lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Bates looks for a takedown but Irving sprawls well.

Bates throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Irving's waist but Irving gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bates off to one side.

Irving fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bates looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Irving's corner calls for a 1-2. Irving obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Irving scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Oh Bates is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Good exchange - Irving coming out on top.
Bates ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Irving moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bates takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Irving works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Irving wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Irving throws a head kick but Bates moves out of range.
Irving comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Irving lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Bates falls backwards - clearly groggy! Irving dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
