Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ellis Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ritvars Ozolins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ritvars Ozolins is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ellis Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ritvars Ozolins!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ozolins looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Reed!

Ozolins decides to stand back up.
Reed shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


It looks like Ellis Reed has been cut.
Ritvars Ozolins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ozolins shoots in and bounces Reed off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ozolins is standing up over Reed. Reed looks to escape but Ozolins dives into side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reed defending against the ground and pound.

Reed throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Reed enables Ozolins to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Reed manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Ozolins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ozolins pushes down on Reed's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ozolins decides to return to a standing position.

Ozolins scores with a takedown into Reed's guard.
Ozolins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Reed really is a fat lump.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ozolins postures up.
Reed working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ozolins.
Reed is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ozolins is controlling him.

Ozolins stands up and waves to Reed to follow him.

Reed gets caught flat footed, as Ozolins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ozolins is standing up over Reed. Reed looks to escape but Ozolins dives into side control.

Ozolins decides to stand back up.
A head kick misses from Ozolins.
Reed went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Ozolins is looking to chop away at Reed's legs.
As Ozolins looks to move away, Reed throws a big counter combo but Ozolins just gets out of the way.

Ozolins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ozolins postures up in Reed's guard and throws a big left but Reed blocks it.
Reed is breathing heavily.

Reed has his foot on Ozolins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ozolins works his way back into a safe position though.
Reed preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ozolins engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ozolins's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ozolins closes the distance and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ritvars Ozolins dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ellis Reed's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Ozolins passes Reed's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Reed avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ozolins.

Ozolins decides to stand and escape the position.

Ozolins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reed quickly recovers to half guard.
Ozolins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ozolins is controlling the pace.
Ozolins sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Reed defending well though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ozolins thows a huge punch but Reed dodges it nicely.
Ozolins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Reed won't allow Ozolins to pass to mount.
Ozolins controlling the action here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Ozolins escapes and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ozolins moves into the clinch.

Ozolins is trying to trip Reed. He has hold of a leg but Reed is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ozolins persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Ozolins stands and throws Reed's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ozolins controls the position.

Ozolins decides to stand up, so the ref orders Reed to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ozolins decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Reed is trying to escape back to his feet but Ozolins uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Ozolins tries to move to mount but Reed blocks the move with his legs.
Ozolins advances to mount.

Ozolins moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Reed has worked his arm free - good work by Reed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ozolins decides to stand back up.
Reed blocks a head kick by Ozolins.
Reed was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Ozolins clinches up with Reed and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reed is working for takedown but Ozolins is calmly controlling the position for now.
Reed is trying to break free.

Ozolins gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ozolins seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ritvars Ozolins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Reed tries to keep at a distance but Ozolins has taken the fight into the clinch.
Reed blocks an elbow strike.
Reed tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ozolins smiles and moves away.
Ozolins stalks Reed and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Reed's face. Reed staggers backwards, shaken.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ozolins drives through with a takedown into Reed's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Reed has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ozolins off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.


Reed is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Oh Reed is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ozolins cracks Reed with a left hook right on the temple and Reed goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Ozolins lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Reed is OK!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ritvars Ozolins!
