And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dermody shoots for a takedown but Hewitt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hewitt thinks about countering with a body kick.

Hewitt looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Hewitt wanted to stand there but Dermody had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hewitt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hewitt throws a big elbow that misses.

Hewitt is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dermody is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dermody has escaped and now he's on top!

Hewitt is looking for a triangle but Dermody pushes his legs off easily.

Hewitt looking for a guillotine here but Dermody defends easily.
Hewitt keeping moving, preventing Dermody from controlling successfully.

Hewitt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dermody gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dermody avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hewitt is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dermody trying to control but Hewitt is working from the bottom.
Dermody advances to half guard.
Hewitt tries to roll over but Dermody keeps him under control.
Dermody tries to pass to full mount but Hewitt defends it.
Dermody uses his free foot to push down on Hewitt's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hewitt.
Hewitt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hewitt working to try and regain half guard.

Dermody is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hewitt can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hewitt keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hewitt gets back to half guard.
Dermody tries to pass to full mount but Hewitt defends it.
Dermody is trying to control the action in half guard but Hewitt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dermody passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hewitt!
Hewitt is desperately trying to improve his position but Dermody has a good base and remains in mount.
Hewitt tries to hold on but Dermody pushes him away.
Dermody takes Hewitt's back.
Hewitt prevents Dermody from getting a body triangle.
Hewitt can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dermody has his arm under Hewitt's chin here. Game over son! Dermody squeezes tightly and Hewitt is forced to tap out!
