The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johns gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jardim is stalling in the full guard.
It looks like Jardim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Jardim is in close to Johns's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jardim ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Johns lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jardim has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jardim and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Johns is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jardim is just riding it out for now. Johns eventually gives up the hold.

Jardim shoots in and bounces Johns off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Jardim is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
