Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mack Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Sage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mack Nguyen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raphael Sage!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen darts in looking for a takedown but Sage gets double underhooks and turns Nguyen into the cage.
Sage connects with a right hand. Nguyen shakes it off.
Nguyen tries to sprawl but Sage drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nguyen is trying to get back to full guard.
Sage not doing much here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sage stands up and beckons Nguyen to join him on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nguyen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sage avoids it really well and circles away.
Sage has Nguyen up against the cage in a clinch.
Nguyen lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sage backwards.
Nguyen jumps guard but Sage stands there with Nguyen around his waist. Nguyen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mack Nguyen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sage has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nguyen uses from the top position.

Nguyen postures up in Sage's guard and throws a big left but Sage blocks it.
Sage is working an open guard so Nguyen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sage looks winded!
Sage closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nguyen to the mat! Nguyen manages to get full guard.
Nguyen striking off his back but it's not causing Sage any problems.
Nguyen looking for a sweep. Not yet Nguyen, not yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nguyen is on top in guard.
Sage trying to control the position.
Nguyen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sage holds on and takes a little breather.
Sage controls Nguyen momentarily but Nguyen frees himself.
Nguyen won't allow Sage to sweep him here.
Nguyen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Sage pulls Nguyen in to control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Nguyen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nguyen is in close to Sage's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Nguyen stands and steps away. Sage gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Nguyen darts in and clinches Sage up against the cage.
Nguyen goes for a takedown attempt but Sage pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sage drives through with a takedown into Nguyen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nguyen is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Sage frees his head nicely. Oh but Nguyen has switched to an armbar! Sage is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
