The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kuperman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Finan trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Finan has his foot on Kuperman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kuperman works his way back into a safe position though.

Finan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kuperman manages to get himself to full guard.
Finan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kuperman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Finan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Finan manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kuperman's guard. Nice work there by Finan.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Finan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Finan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Finan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kuperman's head.

Finan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kuperman defends it well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Finan doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kuperman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kuperman gets to his feet - Finan follows without any prompting.

Kuperman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kuperman lands in his opponent's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Finan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kuperman is one step ahead there.

Finan had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kuperman is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Finan Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kuperman's back instead.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nati Kuperman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Finan with a poor takedown
and Kuperman makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Finan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kuperman counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kuperman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Finan as he avoids it easily.

Nati Kuperman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrone Finan.
Kuperman is pressed up against the cage. Finan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kuperman down to the mat. Kuperman avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Finan has Kuperman pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Finan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kuperman tumbling to the mat - Finan dives into Kuperman's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Finan has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kuperman to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Finan is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kuperman pulls down on the head and he's put Finan to sleep! This one is all over!
