The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mellon circles away from the clinch attempt.

nn clinches with his opponent.
nn lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Mellon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters circling a little - nn finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Mellon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mellon wants it to stay on the feet.
Mellon avoids the head kick by nn.
nn has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad The Island in the buildup to the fight.
nn is breathing heavily.
Mellon lands with a kick to the temple. nn shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Mellon moves into the clinch.
nn has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mellon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Mellon 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mellon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with nn but nn pushes him off and we're back to square one.
nn nn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
nn moves to clinch but Mellon breaks away
and Mellon counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! nn crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mellon - the referee stops the clock and nn gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mellon . nn manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Mellon wants a takedown.

Mellon gets control of nn's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mellon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
nn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mellon pulls nn in close to prevent any damage.
Mellon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

nn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mellon swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Mellon rushes nn and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
nn tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Mellon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

nn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mellon is looking for a kimura but nn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mellon to get the leverage.
Mellon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mellon is continuing to stall.
Mellon works his way into side control.

Mellon slows the pace down.
nn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Mellon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mellon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mellon throws a right and a left that nn avoids nicely.

Mellon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mellon prevents the takedown attempt.

Mellon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rock Mellon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Rock Mellon .
Well Mellon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
