Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Stinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barney Stinson!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wright scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Stinson tries to improve position but can't.
Stinson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Wright.
Stinson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wright's best efforts.
Wright throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Stinson gets full guard.
Wright trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wright is looking to work some ground and pound but Stinson has wrist control.
Stinson controls Wright momentarily but Wright frees himself.
Stinson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Stinson is trying to control the position but Wright postures up.
Wright trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Stinson looking for subs off his back but Wright has passed one foot through into half guard.
Wright missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stinson trying to control from the bottom.
Stinson trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Wright manages to pass to mount!

Wright is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Stinson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Wright scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Stinson?
Stinson wants to control but Wright is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stinson looks gassed!

Despite being in the dominant position, Barney Stinson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stinson blocks a head kick by Wright.
Wright throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stinson's waist but Stinson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wright off to one side.
Horrible takedown by Wright or perhaps it was just good defense by Stinson which made him look bad.
Wright changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stinson tries to avoid it but Wright manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stinson to the ground. Stinson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stinson moves out of range as Wright throws a body kick.

Stinson gets a takedown into half guard.
Wright throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wright wants to improve his position but Stinson is controlling well.
Wright is trying to control but can't.
Stinson wants to stand up but Wright has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Stinson trying to control from half guard but Wright is working away.
Wright works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wright thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Wright looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stinson is one step ahead there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Stinson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stinson shoots and misses

and Wright counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stinson won't be happy with that.
Wright lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stinson down.
Stinson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Wright connects with a decent elbow.
Wright is chipping away with strikes.

Stinson is looking for a sweep.
Wright looks up at the clock and then as Stinson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Wright smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Wright has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Stinson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Wright yanks on the arm and Stinson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Wright.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nate Wright!
