Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Tostao!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters dives in for a single leg takedown but Tostao sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Peters throws a body punch but Tostao moves out of range.
Tostao throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Peters gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Tostao controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tostao wants to pass the guard but Peters is keeping the position.
Tostao is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tostao throwing strikes from guard but Peters blocks nicely.
Tostao's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Peters looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Tostao is stalling in the full guard.
Let's hope that Tostao has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Peters throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tostao controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Peters trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Tostao slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Peters checks a leg kick.
Peters feinted with a counter takedown.
Tostao getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Horrible takedown attempt by Peters or perhaps it was just good defense by Tostao, which made it look bad.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peters drops his hands momentarily and Tostao takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Tostao lands a right hook to the body.
Peters is breathing heavily.
Tostao punishes Peters's body with a nice straight punch.
Peters doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Peters takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Tostao scores with a shot to the body.
Tostao scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Tostao cracks Peters with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Tostao has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Peters to stand back up!
Peters is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tostao drops Peters with a big left hand! Peters is injured, injured bad! Tostao jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joao Tostao!
