Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Modesto Hodges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephen Barett!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barett shoots for a takedown but Hodges saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hodges takes a kick to the side of the head.
Danga de danga de dang - Hodges scores with a four punch combination!

Hodges tries to keep at a distance but Barett has taken the fight into the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Barett breaks from the clinch.
Barett throws a half hearted mid kick.
Hodges shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Barett defends it nicely.
Barett wants to counter the offense by Hodges and move into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barett scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barett shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hodges eats them both and turns towards Barett to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Modesto Hodges has been cut.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Barett is defended easily by Hodges.
Hodges tries to score a power double leg takedown but Barett sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hodges somewhat.

Barett has managed to clinch.
Hodges is working for takedown but Barett is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Modesto Hodges. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Barett manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hodges tries to bum rush Barett with a series of wild strikes but Barett uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hodges throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hodges tries to clinch up.
Hodges misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Barett tries to counter with a clinch but Hodges shakes him off and moves away.
Barett throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Hodges's head.


Hodges is rocked!

Barett shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Hodges is on queer street and Barett is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Stephen Barett!
Stephen Barett decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
