Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Seery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuta Wakabayashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wakabayashi has chosen vvotaro - Noi as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Patrick Seery!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yuta Wakabayashi!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wakabayashi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Seery is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Highland Brawl Academy that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Wakabayashi is looking to work some ground and pound but Seery has wrist control.
Seery on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Seery tries to get out of the position.
Seery wants to improve his position but instead Wakabayashi has moved into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wakabayashi is trying to work for a kimura but Seery is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wakabayashi working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Seery's thigh. Seery counters though and makes it back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wakabayashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Seery swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Seery is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Wakabayashi trying to control but Seery is working from the bottom.
Seery knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wakabayashi on the ground.
Seery is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wakabayashi advances position into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Seery is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wakabayashi's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Wakabayashi not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Seery has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wakabayashi is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Wakabayashi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Wakabayashi throws a body punch but Seery moves out of range.
Seery swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Seery throws a one two combo.


It looks like Yuta Wakabayashi has been cut.
Wakabayashi throws a body shot but no joy.
Seery jabs Wakabayashi right on the nose. Wakabayashi blinks but takes it well.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Seery!
Wakabayashi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Seery avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wakabayashi tries to move into range but Seery moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Wakabayashi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Seery thuds a left hand into Wakabayashi's body.
Seery lands with a cross.
Yuta Wakabayashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Seery lands with a nice body punch.
Decent striking displayed by Seery there.
Wakabayashi avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
A shot to the liver by Seery. Beautiful body shot.
Seery cracks Wakabayashi with an open hand slap.
We've been informed that Wakabayashi has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Seery getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Seery throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Wakabayashi's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Seery dives in looking to finish as Wakabayashi flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Seery's strikes! Seery is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Wakabayashi's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Wakabayashi was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Seery!
