PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Royce Becker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azor Ahai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Azor Ahai will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Royce Becker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azor Ahai!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahai scores with a head kick.
Ahai throws a wild body kick that Becker sees coming a mile off.
Becker lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Ahai delivers a nice body kick.
Ahai throws a sloppy head kick and Becker moves out of range easily.
Azor Ahai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ahai scores with a head kick. Becker tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Becker avoids the head kick by Ahai.

Becker clinches up with Ahai and pushes him back against the cage.

Becker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ahai lands a head kick. Becker smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Becker lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ahai has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ahai and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Becker moves into range and clinches up with Ahai.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ahai stops a takedown attempt from Becker.

Becker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ahai is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Becker darts in and clinches Ahai up against the cage.
Ahai wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Becker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ahai shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Becker pinned against the cage. Becker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
It appears Becker was looking to counter with a kick there.
Ahai fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ahai tries a head kick but it misses.
Becker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Becker throws a chopping leg kick but Ahai manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Ahai lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
A nice inside leg kick there by Ahai. That's going to slow Becker down.
Nice sprawl there from Becker as Ahai shoots in.
Royce Becker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Azor Ahai.
Ahai scores with a kick to the midsection.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ahai avoids the elbow strike from Becker, against the cage.
Ahai wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Becker has him pressed against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ahai is trying to push Becker away but Becker has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Becker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ahai lands a front kick.
Ahai tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Becker defends well and Ahai ends up having to push Becker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ahai is looking to clinch.
Becker blocks the body kick.
Ahai throws a right and a left that both miss.
Becker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ahai looks winded!
Ahai scores with a kick to the midsection.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ahai scores with a nice body kick.
Ahai tries a head kick but it misses.

Becker clinches.

Becker jumps guard and drags Ahai to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Becker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Ahai wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Becker is now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Becker looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ahai with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Becker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Becker takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ahai trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Becker lands a big elbow.
Becker fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Becker scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Becker is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ahai can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Becker lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Becker tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Becker unloading with bombs!
Becker controlling his opponent.
Becker lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ahai hang on?
Becker sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Becker landing punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royce Becker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ahai lands with a kick to the temple. Becker shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A head kick from Ahai lands but Becker takes it in his stride.
A head kick misses from Ahai.
Royce Becker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ahai misses with a head kick.

Becker closes the distance and clinches.
Ahai misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Becker.
Becker has Ahai pressed against the cage, preventing Ahai from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A frustrated look appears on Ahai's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ahai is looking to break free of the clinch but Becker has double underhooks.
Becker displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ahai up against the cage.

Becker works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ahai can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Becker controls the pace.

Becker is working Ahai over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Becker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Becker postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Becker makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Becker lands a couple of digs.
Ahai is looking to sweep but instead, Becker has passed into half guard.
Ahai wants to stand back up but Becker manages to pass into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ahai takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ahai looks to move to half guard but instead Becker has passed into mount! Damn!
Royce Becker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ahai is breathing heavily.
Becker content just to control the position here.
Becker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ahai can do to turn this around?
Becker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Becker working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Ahai turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Becker off and cradles Ahai's limp body as Becker celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Royce Becker!
