PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between El Toro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Jinx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Billy Jinx!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toro chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Jinx should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jinx moves into the clinch successfully.
Toro can't break the clinch.

Jinx breaks the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Toro looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jinx moves into range and clinches up with Toro.
Toro is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jinx gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jinx escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Toro shoots in and drives through. Jinx sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Toro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jinx as he jumps to the side.
Jinx unleashes a big counter combination but Toro bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for El Toro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jinx shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Toro tries to close the distance and clinch but Jinx swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jinx throws an overhand right that lands on Toro's shoulder, as Toro tries to avoid the shot.
A low kick from Toro is predictable there

and Jinx moves into the clinch.

Toro misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jinx.
Jinx controlling the action here for a moment.
Jinx can't get the takedown.

Jinx pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Toro fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jinx throws a sloppy head kick
and Toro counters with a three punch combo that has Jinx backing up. Jinx nods at Toro to acknowledge the strikes.

and Toro finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Toro with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Toro dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jinx. That did some damage!

Jinx closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jinx lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jinx throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Toro works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Toro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jinx can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jinx slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Toro is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jinx is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jinx rushes Toro and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jinx drags the fight down to the ground.
Jinx is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jinx is looking to stall here but Toro recovers full guard.
Jinx really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Toro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jinx is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jinx shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Toro swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Toro shoots for a takedown but Jinx saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jinx looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Toro is fending him off so far but Jinx persists. Nope, Toro circles away and we're back to standing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Toro cracks Jinx with a solid left hand.

Jinx manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Jinx tries to pull guard but Toro forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Jinx breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jinx is trying hard to land a takedown here. Toro sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Toro is looking to counter the offense by Jinx and move into the clinch.

Jinx fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
It looked like Toro was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Jinx takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jinx closes the distance and clinches up with Toro, looking for a takedown. Jinx pushes Toro against the cage but Toro circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jinx takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Some bone on bone action there as Jinx checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Jinx breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jinx takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Toro takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Toro throws a leg kick but Jinx checks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Toro tries to keep at a distance but Jinx has taken the fight into the clinch.
Toro throws a knee to the head but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that El Toro will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jinx pushes Toro up against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Toro's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Toro has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jinx after a bit of a struggle.

Jinx decides to pull guard.
Toro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jinx trying to keep a closed guard but Toro is proving a slippery customer.
Toro would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Billy Jinx has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jinx bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Toro's guard.

Toro working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jinx.
Toro will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Toro looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jinx passes into half guard.
Jinx seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jinx passes the guard and advances to mount!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jinx trying to control but Toro is having none of it.
Jinx throwing strikes here but Toro is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
You get the feeling that Toro really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Jinx controlling the position easily from mount.

Jinx is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Toro has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Toro is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Jinx looking to control and managing it successfully.
Jinx's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Toro is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jinx trying to control but Toro is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jinx stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
