Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fritz Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Desto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ricardo Desto has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Fritz Gates's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Desto!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Desto throws a head kick that misses.

Gates gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gates tried to counter with a leg kick but Desto avoided it.

Gates shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Desto is trying to defend but Gates finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Desto has hold of Gates's hands but Gates slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Gates seems to be working for a kimura but Desto defends the submission attempt.
Desto is trying to get back to full guard.
Gates seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gates connects with a nice short shot to Desto's temple.

Gates has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gates's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gates seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Desto for as long as he can get away with.
