Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arial Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and M J Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shain has chosen Thunderstruck as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arial Jones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 30 - 2, fighting out of New York, M J Shain!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shain throws a chopping leg kick but Jones manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Jones lands a right hook to the body.
Nice body kick from Jones.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jones.
Jones throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Jones swings for the body but Shain moves out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shain.
Shain takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses.
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nice jab there from Shain.
Shain swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Shain counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that.

Jones working for a triangle but Shain defends it easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Shain passes into half guard.
Shain is thwarting Jones's attempts to control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Shain looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jones wants to control but Shain is keeping busy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jones looks for a takedown but Shain sprawls well.
Jones connects with a crisp jab.
Shain misses with a straight right.
Jones catches Shain with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


It looks like M J Shain has been cut.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shain.
Shain tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jones is able to avoid easily.
Shain scores with a spinning back kick!
Jones avoids the body shot from Shain.
Jones definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Jones lands a high kick to the side of Shain's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Jones dives into guard, looking to finish.


Shain is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Shain is still in real trouble! Can Jones finish him?

Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shain is keeping the position for now.
Shain seems to have recovered his senses.
Shain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shain is keeping the position for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jones lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shain.
Shain keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jones chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Jones throws a head kick but Shain moves out of range.
Shain fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jones on the side of the head.
Jones moves away from the strike by Shain.

That has opened up M J Shain's cut even more.
Shain tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones is pushing down on Shain's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shain is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jones prevents Shain from improving his position.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shain is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.
Jones throwing shots but Shain is blocking nicely.

Shain keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Jones is looking for a kimura but Shain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jones to get the leverage.
Shain works his way to full guard. Good work.

Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shain swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Jones on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Shain looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Shain takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shain tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones is looking to counter with head kicks.

Jones lands a high kick!
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shain moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Jones cracks Shain with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


The cut above M J Shain's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Jones defending well as Shain loads up on a big left hand.
Shain staying out of range there.
Shain tries to land a leg kick but Jones saw it coming and moves away.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jones.
Jones stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shain.
Shain misses with a low kick.

A head kick lands from Jones that sends Shain to the canvas. Shain tries to scramble back to his feet but Jones brings him back down into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Jones goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Shain has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jones but great work by Shain.

Jones tries to buck Shain off but Shain is having none of it.
Jones is not content to let Shain control the position.
Shain postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jones tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shain wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
Shain looking to control but instead Jones has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

and Jones counters with a nice body kick.
Shain scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Jones is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Shain falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jones walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Shain checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Shain lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Jones steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shain.
Shain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones throws out a leg kick but Shain moves out of range and Jones only half commits.
Shain fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Shain shows good takedown defense.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Shain does a little dance to reset his feet.
A jab from Jones misses.
Shain was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Jones.
Shain throws a jab when Jones was well out of range.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shain can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shain.

M J Shain's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Jones connects with a body shot that sends Shain's belly button to the back.
Jones throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shain is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Shain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shain looks to land a body kick but Jones moved away.
Shain throws a half hearted mid kick.
Shain fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones moves into range and connects with a jab.

Jones knocks Shain to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

The referee calls the doctor in to look at M J Shain's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

An out of breath Arial Jones thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, M J Shain stepped up to the mic, saying 'Its time to call it a wrap. Been a great career. Thank you all!!'.
