PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keneth Contreras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Rogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Rogan!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Contreras throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Rogan counters with a single leg into guard. Contreras didn't expect that.
Rogan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rogan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rogan passes into half guard.
Rogan not doing much here.
Rogan is pressing down on Contreras's thigh, looking to free his foot. Contreras is holding on for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Contreras is trying to stand up here but Rogan is controlling him well.
Rogan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Contreras does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Contreras really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rogan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Rogan tries to control but Contreras wriggling away.

Rogan is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Contreras to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Contreras shrugs it off.
Contreras wants to control but Rogan is having none of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rogan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Contreras swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Contreras is looking to stand up but Rogan isn't so interested in that idea.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Contreras tries to bum rush Rogan with a series of wild strikes but Rogan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rogan is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Contreras throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rogan changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Rogan shoots in looking for a takedown. Contreras tries to sprawl out of it but Rogan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Contreras manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Keneth Contreras has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Rogan.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rogan closes the distance and clinches up with Contreras, looking for a takedown. Rogan pushes Contreras against the cage but Contreras circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Keneth Contreras seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rogan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Contreras tries to avoid it but Rogan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Contreras to the ground. Contreras escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Contreras appears to be looking for a big counter.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Contreras is looking for a kimura but Rogan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Contreras to get the leverage.
Rogan wants to control but Contreras is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Contreras looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Contreras tries a head kick but it misses.
Rogan drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Contreras defends it well.

so Rogan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Rogan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Contreras makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Contreras.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Contreras trying to keep a closed guard but Rogan is proving a slippery customer.

Rogan wants to control from the top but Contreras keeps moving.
Rogan slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Contreras is trying to stand up here but Rogan is controlling him well.
Rogan wants to pass the guard but Contreras is defending well.
Rogan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Contreras does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Contreras has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rogan is working away from the top position though.

I would just about give that final round to Joe Rogan.
