Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Ground (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Moroz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melvin Moroz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Ground!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Melvin Moroz!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moroz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ground moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Moroz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ground is fending him off so far but Moroz persists. Nope, Ground circles away and we're back to standing.
Ground misses with a leg kick.
Moroz darts in looking for a takedown but Ground gets double underhooks and turns Moroz into the cage.
Ground drops down looking for a counter takedown but Moroz sprawls and moves away.
Ground closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Moroz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ground attempts a counter takedown but Moroz avoids it well and moves away.
Mark Ground has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Melvin Moroz.
Ground misses the jab.
Ground lands with a nice combination. Moroz backs away looking to recover.
No joy there for Moroz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ground throws a right hand that Moroz ducks under and follows up with a left that Moroz also avoids with ease.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Moroz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Moroz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Moroz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ground misses with a kick to the body.
Ground lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Moroz at a distance.
Moroz dives in and grabs Ground's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ground pushes down on Moroz's head and hops out.
Ground avoids the head kick by Moroz.

Moroz gets caught napping as Ground dives in and scores a takedown. Moroz manages to retain guard.
Ground controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ground has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ground stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moroz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ground slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ground pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moroz is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ground showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Ground passes Moroz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Ground is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ground takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ground uses his free foot to push down on Moroz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Moroz.
Ground lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Ground has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Moroz is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mark Ground!
Mark Ground was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
