With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerald Flonkerton!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karalim lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Gerald Flonkerton has been cut.

Flonkerton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Karalim is in trouble now - Flonkerton has advanced to mount!

Flonkerton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Karalim has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Flonkerton has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Karalim's face.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Flonkerton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Karalim is looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Flonkerton there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flonkerton stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Karalim connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Flonkerton momentarily.

Flonkerton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Karalim looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Flonkerton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Karalim's waist but Karalim gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Flonkerton off to one side.

Flonkerton is pushing down on Karalim's leg trying to pass to half guard. Karalim is fighting to maintain full guard but Flonkerton has managed to sneak the leg through.

Flonkerton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Karalim.

Flonkerton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Flonkerton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Karalim moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Flonkerton prevents Karalim from getting back to his feet.

Flonkerton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Flonkerton goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Karalim has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Flonkerton but great work by Karalim.
Karalim wants to stand but Flonkerton is controlling his arm.
Flonkerton tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Karalim wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Karalim is looking to take a break and control but Flonkerton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Karalim tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Flonkerton jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Karalim is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Karalim and Flonkerton has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Flonkerton has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Karalim!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Flonkerton wants to control the pace but Karalim is squirming around nicely.
