Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hiranuka Stakanu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Doe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe throws a shot from downtown. Stakanu moves away and avoids it.
Doe just misses with a punch to the body.

Doe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stakanu moves away.
Stakanu throws a series of punches but Doe avoids them all with ease.

Stakanu scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Stakanu moves nicely into side control.
Stakanu looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Doe is avoiding damage well.
Doe gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Stakanu throwing shots but Doe is blocking nicely.

Stakanu lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Stakanu is pressing down on Doe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Doe is holding on for now.
Stakanu throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Doe is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Stakanu scores with a couple of nice shots.
Doe is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Doe makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Doe.

Stakanu is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Stakanu lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Doe tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Doe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Doe stands up over Stakanu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Stakanu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Doe is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stakanu is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Stakanu looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Doe with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Doe is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stakanu pulls his head out easily.

Stakanu is trying for a kimura here. Doe looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Stakanu wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Hiranuka Stakanu!
