Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Margarito Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edison Arantes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arantes misses with a kick to the body.
Maxwell drops down looking for a counter takedown but Arantes sprawls and moves away.
Maxwell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Arantes circles away quickly and effectively.
Arantes scores with a hook.

It looks like Margarito Maxwell has been cut.

and Maxwell counters with a series of strikes. Arantes will be more careful next time no doubt.
Edison Arantes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Arantes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maxwell is trying to maintain the position but Arantes is very close to passing his half guard.
Maxwell has a hand on Arantes's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Arantes takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Maxwell wants to hold on but Arantes pushes him away.
Maxwell could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Maxwell is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Maxwell wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Maxwell is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Arantes.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Arantes gets his hands free as Maxwell looks to control.
Maxwell is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Arantes is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Arantes keeps control of the position as Maxwell tries to break free.
Maxwell rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Maxwell wants to get back to full guard.
Maxwell flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Maxwell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Arantes pulls his head out easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Good work by Maxwell as he checks the leg kick.
Maxwell fails with an attempt to clinch.
Arantes lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Arantes will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Arantes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Maxwell is trying to get back to full guard.

Maxwell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Arantes is taking a breather. Maxwell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Arantes misses with a low kick.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Arantes walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Maxwell checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Arantes uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Maxwell has time to react.
Arantes tried to score with a low kick but Maxwell checks it.
Maxwell tries to clinch but Arantes moves out of range.

Maxwell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Arantes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maxwell wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Arantes uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Maxwell throws an elbow that misses. Arantes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Maxwell's guard. Nice move by Arantes!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Some bone on bone action there as Maxwell checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Arantes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Arantes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maxwell's guard.
Arantes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Maxwell is trying to keep Arantes in close.
Arantes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Maxwell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Arantes is one step ahead there.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Margarito Maxwell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Arantes lands with a nice body punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Arantes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Maxwell is trying to defend but Arantes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Arantes closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Maxwell out cold! Maxwell corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
