PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen Eminem feat. Nate Dogg - Till I Collapse as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James fails with the takedown.
James closes the distance and clinches up with Lee, looking for a takedown. James pushes Lee against the cage but Lee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lee is clearly trying to counter these attacks from James with a body shot.
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Lee has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but James pushes him off.
James shoots and misses

and Lee holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Lee throws an elbow but it's blocked.
James blocks an elbow strike.

James has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Lee clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
James has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Lee's body.
Lee is really stuck here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James is persistently looking for the submission but Lee is defending it well.

Lee is in bad spot here.
James throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lee takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Lee is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

James is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Lee tries to roll but James sticks to his back.
James scores with punches to the body.

Lee tries to escape but James has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
James is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Lee up.

James is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lee is defending well though. James let's go of the attempt for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
James keeps control of the position as Lee tries to break free.

Lee just trying to survive but James is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

James has the hooks in. Lee is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

James has got one arm under Lee's chin. This could be trouble... Lee trying to control the other hand but James gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Lee has tapped out! The fight is over!

An out of breath Alex James thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
