PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fyro Blade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Casa Nova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blade shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nova is trying to defend but Blade finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Blade controlling the action here.
Nova works his way to full guard. Good work.

Nova escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blade gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Blade postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blade throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Blade has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Blade controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Nova is trying to control the position but Blade postures up.

Blade got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nova has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blade has managed to get both his arms back between Nova's legs - danger averted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blade wants to get up but he can't break Nova's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Blade knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nova on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nova looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Blade decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Nova throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Blade is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Nova is fighting off a takedown attempt but Blade is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nova to the mat. Nova regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Nova misses with an attempted mid kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Nova lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Blade has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Blade and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Blade moves into the clinch successfully.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Nova tries to stall but Blade uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Come on Blade - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

The referee is keeping an eye on Blade - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Nova is trying to maintain a safe position but Blade gets an underhook and turns Nova into the cage.

Nova stalling in the clinch but Blade improves position.
Nova is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Casa Nova.

Blade closes the distance and pushes Nova back into the cage.
Blade is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nova can do to turn this around?

Nova is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Nova has his foot on Blade's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blade works his way back into a safe position though.
Nova is breathing heavily.
Blade has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nova is proving hard to escape from.
Blade postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Blade stands up and waves to Nova to follow him.
A bone on bone clash there as Blade blocks the leg kick.
Blade seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Blade pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Blade decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Blade not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Blade wants to pass to mount but Nova is defending the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Blade in particular looking to stall.
Nova has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blade is working away from the top position though.

Nova wants to get back to full guard but Blade has mounted him!

Blade has hold of Nova's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nova manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Nova sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Nova is looking to cinch up a triangle. Blade throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Nova's body to avoid the submission. Nova has instead reached around Blade's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Nova arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
