Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrell Spong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyrell Spong!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spong fails with a takedown attempt.
Spong doesn't manage to clinch there - James circles away.

James gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Spong tries to pull guard but James won't allow it.
Spong stops a takedown attempt from James.
Spong is trying to break free.

Spong takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
James advances nicely into full mount.

James misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

James is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Spong to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Spong shrugs it off.

James is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Spong is surviving well by controlling James's body position as best he can.

James wants to finish this one by submission but Spong is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from James.
Spong wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by James.

James gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

James fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Spong, pushing him back against the cage.
Spong lands with a short punch from the clinch.


It looks like Josh James has been cut.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

James stuffs the takedown.
Josh James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrell Spong.

A bone on bone clash there as James blocks the leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from James is defended easily by Spong.
Spong unleashes a big counter combination but James bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

James closes the distance and clinches up with Spong, looking for a takedown. James pushes Spong against the cage but Spong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

James tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

James jumps guard and drags Spong to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
James has a closed guard, preventing Spong from standing up.

Spong looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
James is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Spong can do to turn this around?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Spong changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

James stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and James wants it to stay on the feet.
James takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
James wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
