Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between King Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Finkler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Finkler has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, King Mitchell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gary Finkler!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Finkler.
Finkler will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mitchell tries to clinch but Finkler moves out of range.
Finkler takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Mitchell sizes up Finkler with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Mitchell scores with a hook.
A jab from Mitchell finds it's way through Finkler's defenses.
Mitchell throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Finkler misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nice uppercut lands for Mitchell. That snapped Finkler's head back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mitchell connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Finkler's hands.
Mitchell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Finkler.
King Mitchell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Finkler.

Finkler circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mitchell digs a good hook to Finkler's body.
Mitchell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Finkler counters with a takedown into side control.
Finkler working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
I wouldn't like to be where Mitchell is right now.

Finkler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Finkler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Finkler works to advance to full mount. Mitchell defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Finkler stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Finkler moves forwards but Mitchell connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Finkler takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Nice jab there from Mitchell.
Mitchell lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Finkler backs up against the cage.
Finkler moves out of range of the body kick.
Mitchell is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
No joy there for Mitchell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Finkler tries for a takedown but Mitchell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mitchell lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Finkler dives in for a single leg takedown but Mitchell sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mitchell thuds his right hand into Finkler's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Mitchell scores with a decent looking hook.
Mitchell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Finkler manages to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mitchell lands a nice looking body shot.
Mitchell is looking to clinch but Finkler is avoiding it.
Finkler changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Mitchell scores with a punch to the head.
Finkler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mitchell's waist but Mitchell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Finkler off to one side.
Finkler takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Finkler misses with a straight left.
Mitchell tries to clinch there but Finkler circles away.
Finkler wants to counter with a clinch but Mitchell pushes him away.
Finkler misses with a few strikes there.
Mitchell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Finkler checks the leg kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Finkler.

Mitchell closes the distance and pushes Finkler back into the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mitchell prevents the takedown attempt.

Finkler gets control of Mitchell's arms and successfully pulls guard. Finkler will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Finkler wants to sweep but no luck.
Mitchell wants to pass the guard but Finkler is keeping the position.
Finkler wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Mitchell postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Mitchell dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mitchell misses with a combination

so Finkler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Finkler is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Finkler wants to get up but he can't break Mitchell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Finkler gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Mitchell works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mitchell throws a chopping leg kick but Finkler manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Finkler tries for a takedown but Mitchell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mitchell cracks Finkler with a right hand to the side of the head.
Mitchell throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Mitchell moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromFinkler.
King Mitchell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Finkler checks a leg kick nicely.
Finkler is looking to clinch but Mitchell is avoiding it.
A clash of legs there as Finkler blocks the low kick.
Mitchell misses with a double jab.
Finkler is looking for the big counter here.

Finkler gets the takedown into side control.

Finkler tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mitchell is not content to let Finkler control the position.
Mitchell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mitchell tries to get out of the position.

Finkler decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mitchell to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mitchell throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Finkler moves out of range of the body kick from Mitchell.
Mitchell throws a low kick but Finkler avoids it.
And Finkler tries to counter it with a takedown but Mitchell pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Finkler shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mitchell sprawls well. Mitchell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Finkler gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
An inside leg kick from Mitchell misses.
Finkler takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Mitchell throws a leg kick that misses.
Mitchell lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Mitchell is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Finkler shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mitchell defends it nicely.
King Mitchell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Finkler.
Finkler on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

It looked like Mitchell wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Mitchell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Finkler can do to turn this around?

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Finkler takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Finkler goes for a double leg but Mitchell avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mitchell continues to drive forward.

and Finkler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mitchell's guard.
Finkler tries to free his leg and advance position but Mitchell is retaining full guard.

Mitchell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Finkler controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that King Mitchell will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Finkler takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Finkler has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Mitchell bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Finkler's head backwards.
Gary Finkler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Donk. Mitchell catches Finkler right on the button with a cross.
Mitchell fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Finkler checks it well.
Mitchell moves into range and connects with a jab.
Finkler tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mitchell defends well and Finkler ends up having to push Mitchell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Mitchell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Mitchell counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mitchell creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Finkler tries to score a body lock takedown but Mitchell shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
King Mitchell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Finkler.

Finkler has clasped his hands together around Mitchell's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Mitchell is not content to let Finkler control the position.
You can see the frustration on Mitchell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Finkler wants to stand but Mitchell is controlling his arm.

Finkler tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Finkler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mitchell keeps working.

Finkler is working to tighten his grip on Mitchell's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mitchell has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Finkler is really squeezing tight and eventually Mitchell passes out! Finkler breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Gary Finkler!
