Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kees Flodder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Milat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kees Flodder!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ivan Milat!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Flodder shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Milat's guard.
Flodder postures up.
Flodder is looking to pass into half guard but Milat pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Milat is in guard.

Flodder has his foot on Milat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Milat works his way back into a safe position though.
I've been told that Milat has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.
Milat is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Milat lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Milat controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Milat forces his way into half guard.
Milat is pressing down on Flodder's thigh, looking to free his foot. Flodder is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flodder looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Milat thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Flodder's head.

Flodder is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Milat pulls his head out easily.
Flodder is staying active underneath Milat, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Milat passes the guard and advances to mount!
Milat wants to control the pace but Flodder is squirming around nicely.
Milat scoring with strikes but Flodder is staying in there.
Flodder sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Flodder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Flodder looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Milat seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Flodder does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Milat perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Flodder is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Milat pulls his head out easily.
Milat looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Flodder is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Milat's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Milat's back!
Flodder has the hooks in. Milat is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Flodder looking for the choke but no joy.

Milat showing good submission defense here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Flodder is looking for the choke from the back position but Milat is controlling his hands well.
Flodder is trying to stick to Milat's back but Milat is turning into Flodder. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Flodder's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Milat.

Flodder looking for a sweep. Not yet Flodder, not yet.
Milat with a nice head shot there.

Flodder is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Milat defends well.
Flodder is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Milat is trying to get back to full guard.
Flodder is looking to take a break and control but Milat is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Milat slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Flodder wants to control from the top but Milat keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Milat tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Flodder drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Milat manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Flodder has Milat in his guard.
Milat trying to control but Flodder is working from the bottom.
Milat looking to sit in guard and control but Flodder gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Milat is pulling down on Flodder's head to control his posture.
Milat is trying to keep Flodder in close.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Flodder has gone for a leg lock! Milat slips out almost immediately though and dives into Flodder's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kees Flodder will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Flodder shoots in looking for a takedown. Milat tries to sprawl out of it but Flodder keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Milat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Milat wants to counter the offense by Flodder and move into the clinch position.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Flodder is defended easily by Milat.
A jab from Flodder misses.
Milat looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.


It looks like Ivan Milat has been cut.
Nice uppercut lands for Flodder. That snapped Milat's head back.
Flodder is trying hard to land a takedown here. Milat sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kees Flodder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Flodder needs to keep his hands up - Milat had a free shot at his head there.
Milat throws the kick towards the body but Flodder avoids it.
Flodder throws out a loose jab but Milat uses good head movement to avoid it.
Flodder missing with a left hand there. Milat was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Flodder misses with a looping right.
Flodder sets himself, and Milat steps forward looking for the clinch! Flodder avoids it this time.
Kees Flodder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Milat throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Milat lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Milat throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Flodder looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Flodder swings for the body but Milat moves out of range.

Flodder misses with a hook. Milat ducked under it nicely.
Milat throws a low kick but Flodder moves out of range easily.
Flodder looks to throw the jab but Milat is out of range.
Milat fakes the leg kick and cracks Flodder in the body.
Decent striking displayed by Flodder there.
Nice cross by Flodder.
Milat feints and then cracks Flodder's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Flodder down.
Milat throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Flodder stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Milat misses with a looping left.
Flodder throws a lazy right hand but Milat sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Flodder looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A big left from Flodder misses.
Ivan Milat is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Flodder swinging wildly here.
Milat digs a good hook to Flodder's body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Milat displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Flodder.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Flodder will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Milat scores with a jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Flodder.
Milat displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Flodder throws out the jab.
Milat lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Flodder backs up against the cage.
Flodder takes one on the chin but seems OK.


Flodder is rocked!
Milat drops Flodder with a straight right hand, right on the button! Milat follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ivan Milat! Ivan Milat retains his bantamweight title!
During a confident post fight interview, Ivan Milat thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
