PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hale Erwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Dredd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dredd has chosen I Am The Law! as his entrance music. Erwin has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Hale Erwin had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jackson Dredd enters the cage!

The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erwin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Erwin takes a swing at Dredd's ribcage but misses.
Dredd tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Erwin tries to bum rush Dredd with a series of wild strikes but Dredd uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dredd moves out of range as Erwin throws a body kick.
Dredd drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Erwin defends it well.
Erwin is breathing heavily.
Dredd fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Erwin.
Erwin throws a poor cross that misses

and Dredd counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Dredd is pressing down on Erwin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Erwin is holding on for now.

Dredd seems to be looking for submissions.
Dredd passes to full mount!
Erwin has given up his back.

Dredd looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Erwin is controlling Dredd 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.
Dredd has Erwin pulled in close to control his posture.

Erwin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dredd has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Erwin has managed to get both his arms back between Dredd's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Erwin is sitting in close to Dredd's body. Dredd has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Erwin is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Erwin is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Dredd.
