Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alan Nova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Royce Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Nova.
Nova wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.
Gracie drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nova defends it well.
Nova moves out of range of the body kick from Gracie.
A slow jab from Nova misses its intended target.
Nova throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gracie was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gracie remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Gracie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nova manages to avoid it.

Nova's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gracie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nova finds it's way round the side to connect with Gracie's head.
A nice inside leg kick there by Nova. That's going to slow Gracie down.

and Gracie counters by clinching up.

Nova fails to land with a series of punches.

Gracie shoots in but Nova avoids the takedown attempt easily.

We've been informed that Gracie has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Nova stalks Gracie and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gracie's face. Gracie staggers backwards, shaken.
Gracie forces Nova back against the cage and clinches.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nova just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gracie's brow.
Nova blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Nova throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Gracie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gracie drives through with a takedown into Nova's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Royce Gracie seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Gracie is trying to pull guard but Nova has him pressed against the cage.

Nova is looking to control Gracie's arms but Gracie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Nova has his back to the cage.

Horrible takedown attempt by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Nova, which made it look bad.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Nova sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Nova lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Good leg kick by Nova there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Gracie drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nova looking for a sweep. Not yet Nova, not yet.
Gracie throwing strikes from guard but Nova blocks nicely.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Nova wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.
Nova connects with an inside leg kick.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Nova sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Nova avoids nicely.

Nova uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Gracie has time to react.
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nova sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.

Nova lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Nova takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Nova counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
