PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rigel Arsscott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yasir Sakeer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rigel Arsscott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yasir Sakeer!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arsscott closes the distance and clinches.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Sakeer.

Arsscott jumps guard.
Sakeer wants to get up but he can't break Arsscott's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Sakeer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sakeer trying to control but Arsscott is working from the bottom.

Arsscott is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sakeer defends well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sakeer throwing strikes from guard but Arsscott blocks nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sakeer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Arsscott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sakeer has gone for a leg lock! Arsscott slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sakeer's guard.

Sakeer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Arsscott wants to control from the top but Sakeer keeps moving.

Arsscott stands and steps away. Sakeer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Arsscott stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Arsscott wants it to stay on the feet.

Arsscott closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Arsscott has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sakeer uses from the top position.
Sakeer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Arsscott has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Arsscott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sakeer tries to free his leg and advance position but Arsscott is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sakeer trying to control the position from guard on top but Arsscott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Arsscott seems keen to control Sakeer's posture.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sakeer tries to close the distance and clinch but Arsscott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sakeer shoots in but no luck this time.
Sakeer looks winded!

Arsscott drives through with a takedown into guard.

Arsscott gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sakeer shoots for a takedown but Arsscott saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rigel Arsscott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yasir Sakeer.

Arsscott fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sakeer to the ground. Arsscott is now in Sakeer's guard.
Arsscott's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sakeer wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Arsscott is now in half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Arsscott is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sakeer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rigel Arsscott!
