Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Hemingway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shutang Nabels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Charles Hemingway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shutang Nabels!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hemingway shoots in and bounces Nabels off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hemingway drops back looking for a leg! Nabels is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nabels manages to kick Hemingway off! Hemingway jumps back into Nabels's guard.
Nabels looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hemingway is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hemingway trying to control but Nabels is working from the bottom.
Hemingway pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nabels is keeping the position for now.

Hemingway trying to control the position from guard on top but Nabels is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hemingway really is a fat lump.
Nabels wants to stand and escape but Hemingway is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hemingway instigates a clinch.
Nabels tries to circle away but Hemingway has him pinned against the cage.

Hemingway has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nabels uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hemingway striking off his back but it's not causing Nabels any problems.
Nabels wanted to stand there but Hemingway had control of the position.

Hemingway looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nabels trying to control but Hemingway is working from the bottom.

Nabels tries to free his leg and advance position but Hemingway is retaining full guard.
Hemingway keeping moving, preventing Nabels from controlling successfully.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nabels is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nabels tries for a takedown but Hemingway sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hemingway shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nabels napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hemingway decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Nabels goes for a double leg but Hemingway avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hemingway continues to drive forward.
Nabels doesn't manage to clinch there - Hemingway circles away.
Nabels wants to clinch up but Hemingway keeps it at a distance.

Hemingway looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Hemingway trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nabels will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Hemingway decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Nabels gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hemingway gets to his feet - Nabels follows without any prompting.

Nabels misses with a head kick.
Nabels looks winded!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nabels enables Hemingway to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nabels manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hemingway landing with the ground and pound.

Hemingway stands up and waves to Nabels to follow him.
Charles Hemingway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hemingway dives in and scores a takedown into Nabels's guard.
Nabels wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hemingway gets to his feet. Nabels looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hemingway closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nabels to the mat! Nabels manages to get full guard.

Hemingway is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Nabels is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Nabels has escaped and now he's on top!


Nabels has gone for a leg lock! Hemingway slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nabels's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hemingway moves into the clinch.
Nabels looking for a takedown.

Hemingway gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Nabels regains guard.

Hemingway has gone for a leg lock! Nabels slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hemingway's guard.

Nabels wanted to stand there but Hemingway had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hemingway wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Nabels wants to stand but Hemingway has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Nabels avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Nabels stopping the sweep attempt from Hemingway.
Nabels wants to pass the guard but Hemingway is keeping the position.
Hemingway has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hemingway keeping full guard, as Nabels tries to pass.
Hemingway has control of Nabels's left arm, preventing Nabels from doing any damage.
Nabels trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hemingway's guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nabels tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hemingway attempts a counter takedown but Nabels avoids it well and moves away.

Hemingway shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hemingway showed some decent athleticism there.

Hemingway is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nabels doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hemingway.

Hemingway decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Nabels shoots for a takedown but Hemingway saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nabels shoots in for a double leg but Hemingway sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Charles Hemingway has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shutang Nabels.
Nabels is breathing heavily.
Hemingway stuffs the takedown.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hemingway.
Hemingway landing strikes.
Nabels is not content to let Hemingway control the position.
Hemingway cracks Nabels with an elbow. That is naaassty.


Nabels is rocked!

Hemingway tries for a kimura but Nabels is defending well.
Hemingway lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Nabels is still in real trouble! Can Hemingway finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hemingway working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Nabels gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Nabels seems to have recovered his senses.

Hemingway stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Hemingway throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nabels was covering up waiting for the punch and Hemingway finishes the takedown easily into guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hemingway has Nabels pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hemingway pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nabels tumbling to the mat - Hemingway dives into Nabels's guard.

Hemingway drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nabels manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hemingway has Nabels in his guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Charles Hemingway showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hemingway has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
