Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Blitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Blitz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Sanders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Blitz!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blitz defends it nicely.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Blitz.
Blitz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Sanders gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Sanders gets control of Blitz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sanders will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sanders really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sanders has his hands on Blitz's head, controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blitz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Blitz wants to pass the guard but Sanders is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanders pushes Blitz off and scrambles back to his feet.
Sanders shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blitz pinned against the cage. Blitz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sanders clinches up with Blitz and pushes him back against the cage.

Sanders pulls Blitz into guard.
Sanders seems keen to control Blitz's posture.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanders is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Blitz is controlling him.
Sanders pulls Blitz in close to his closed guard and prevents Blitz from doing any damage or advancing position.
Blitz postures up.
Blitz is fighting to break Sanders's control of his arms but Sanders is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Sanders will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Blitz postures up in Sanders's guard and throws a big left but Sanders blocks it.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Sanders has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Blitz throws a sloppy head kick and Sanders moves out of range easily.

Blitz lands a front kick.

Sanders drives through and clinches with Blitz against the cage.

Sanders breaks the clinch.

Bobby Sanders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blitz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Blitz connects with an inside leg kick.

Sanders closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Blitz wants to stall.

Sanders breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Blitz slips a jab and a cross from Sanders.
Blitz is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Sanders changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blitz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Blitz is trying to control Sanders's posture but Sanders avoids it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sanders tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanders has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Blitz tries to buck Sanders off but Sanders is having none of it.
Blitz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanders. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sanders is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Blitz has escaped the position, nice work there.
You can see the frustration on Blitz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanders is putting a hurting on Blitz here, landing some big shots from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sanders dives in and scores a takedown into Blitz's guard.

Sanders gets to his feet - Blitz follows without any prompting.

Sanders pushes Blitz up against the cage in a clinch.
Sanders is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Blitz can do to turn this around?

Sanders has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Blitz regains guard immediately.

Sanders wants to take a breather but Blitz is having none of it.

Sanders lands a couple of elbows.
Sanders works over Blitz with some ground and pound from guard.
Blitz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sanders.
Blitz working a defensive guard but Sanders manages to pass into side control anyway.
Blitz is looking for a sweep.

Sanders stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Sanders shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blitz defends it nicely.
Blitz only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Blitz throws a leg kick which misses Sanders's front leg but catches the back leg as Sanders tries to avoid it.

Sanders closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sanders lands in his opponent's guard.
Sanders in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Blitz has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sanders is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Blitz.

Sanders is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blitz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Blitz is looking for a sweep.
The strikes coming from Sanders are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Sanders working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sanders advances to mount.

Sanders has hold of Blitz's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Blitz manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Sanders lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Sanders cracks Blitz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Sanders is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Blitz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Blitz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sanders doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sanders manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sanders drops back looking for a leg! Blitz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Blitz manages to kick Sanders off! Sanders jumps back into Blitz's guard.

Sanders has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sanders is looking to work some ground and pound but Blitz has wrist control.
Sanders keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Blitz's head.

Sanders gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sanders takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Blitz throws a chopping leg kick but Sanders manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sanders is looking for a counter combo.

Blitz gets tackled into the cage by Sanders. Sanders maintains the clinch.
Sanders prevents Blitz from breaking the clinch.
Blitz is trying to maintain a safe position but Sanders gets an underhook and turns Blitz into the cage.

Sanders manages to break the clinch.

Sanders looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Blitz is not content to let Sanders control the position.
Sanders lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Sanders sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Blitz defending well though.
Sanders throwing shots but Blitz is blocking nicely.
Sanders takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Sanders wants to work for an arm triangle but Blitz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sanders is looking to take a break and control but Blitz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sanders seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Sanders takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Sanders stands up out of the half guard.
Sanders moves out of range of the body kick from Blitz.

Sanders rushes Blitz and presses him up against the cage.
Blitz struggles to land a body shot inside as Sanders controls his hands.
Blitz looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Sanders is trying to trip Blitz. He has hold of a leg but Blitz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sanders persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanders accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bobby Sanders is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanders postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sanders trying to control the position from guard on top but Blitz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sanders is really struggling to control Blitz but he's trying to hold on to the position.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanders, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
