PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Dredd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roope Latvala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dredd comes to the cage accompanied by I Am The Law!. Latvala has chosen Children of Bodom - Tie my rope as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Dredd is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Latvala can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dredd is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Latvala to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Latvala shrugs it off.

Dredd wants to control the pace but Latvala is squirming around nicely.

Dredd takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dredd takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Latvala stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Latvala throws the left hand but Dredd avoids the punch easily.

Latvala thuds his right hand into Dredd's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Roope Latvala seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Dredd half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dredd misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Latvala feints the counter takedown.
Latvala does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Dredd avoids the body shot from Latvala.
Dredd slips a straight right by Latvala.

A close second round but Roope Latvala will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Latvala takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Dredd misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dredd rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Dredd is countered with a crisp right hand from Latvala that sends him to the canvas! Latvala follows him to the mat into side control.
Oh Dredd is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Latvala is looking to take a break and control but Dredd is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dredd looks to move to half guard but instead Latvala has passed into mount! Damn!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Latvala loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Dredd scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Latvala land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Latvala stands and salutes the crowd.
