PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alan Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Dragon.
Dragon lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A head kick misses from Dragon.
Dean tries to clinch but Dragon is having none of it.
Dragon lands with a slapping head kick.

Dean closes the distance and clinches.
A short body shot lands from Dragon as the two fighters clinch.
Dragon misses with a punch to the body.
Dragon is looking to break free of the clinch but Dean has double underhooks.

Dean lands a takedown into guard.
Dragon trying to control the position.
Dragon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dean is one step ahead there.
Dragon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dean controls the pace.

Dean misses with a takedown
and Dragon makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Dean swings widly with a right hand
and Dragon counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Dragon's corner calls for a 1-2. Dragon obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Dean has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Dragon.
Dragon throws a push kick but Dean slaps the foot to one side.

The Dragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dragon fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Dean seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Dragon lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dragon.

Dragon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A left and a right from Dragon both land. Nice combination.

Dragon lands a lovely overhand right.
Oh Dean is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dean throws out a leg kick but Dragon moves out of range and Dean only half commits.
Dean seems to have got his legs back now.
Dean shoots in and drives through. Dragon sprawls well.

Dean throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dragon.
Dean is breathing heavily.
Dragon throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Dragon looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Dragon looks for the body kick but Dean saw that one coming.
Dean is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Dragon.
Dragon jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Dragon plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

and Dragon counters with a left to the body.

Dean walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Dragon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dean stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dragon is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Dean had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Dragon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dean moves away.
Dean takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Dragon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dean.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Dragon dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dean avoids the body shot from Dragon.
No joy there for Dean, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The Dragon seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Dean avoids a kick to the body.
Dean takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Dragon throws a left that rocks Dean and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Dragon dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Dean regain composure!

It looks like Alan Dean has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dean seems a little lost for a moment, as Dragon dominates the positioning.
Dean is not content to let Dragon control the position.
Dean is looking for a sweep.
Dragon controlling the position from side mount.
Dean pushes Dragon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Dragon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Dragon wants to control but Dean is keeping him busy.
Dean can't do much from the bottom here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dragon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dean appears to be looking for a big counter.
Dragon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dean.
Dean fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dragon avoids it really well and circles away.
Dragon appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dragon tries to bum rush Dean with a series of wild strikes but Dean uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dean closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Dean looks to land a body kick but Dragon moved away.
Dragon lands with a nice combination. Dean backs away looking to recover.
Dean takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Dragon throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Dean moves forwards but Dragon connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Dean moves in looking to clinch but Dragon pushes him off.

Dragon lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Dragon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dragon looks to land a combination but Dean avoids it well.

Dragon lands a glancing blow to the side of Dean's head.
Dragon tries a head kick but it misses.
Dragon moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Dean takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Dean shoots in for a takedown but Dragon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dean takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Dragon cracks a nice hook into Dean's ribs.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Dragon, as that shot connected.

The crowd cheers as Dragon lands an impressive looking overhand right. Dean doesn't seem phased though.

Dean takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Dragon connects with a jab.
Dragon lands a really nice looking cross but Dean seems unphased.
Dragon takes a swing at Dean's ribcage but misses.
Dragon throws a nice looking combination but Dean bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dean closes the distance and clinches up with Dragon, looking for a takedown. Dean pushes Dragon against the cage but Dragon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alan Dean. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dean will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Dean moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Dragon throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Both fighters circling a little - Dragon finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Dragon throws a wild body kick that Dean sees coming a mile off.
Dean drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Dean drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dragon controlling the position.
Dragon is trying to control the position but Dean postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dragon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dean manages to get himself to full guard.

Dragon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Dean controls Dragon momentarily but Dragon frees himself.

Dragon throws an elbow that misses. Dean uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dragon's guard. Nice move by Dean!

Dragon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dean has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dragon is working away from the top position though.
Dragon passes to side control.

Dean tries to bench press Dragon off him but Dragon keeps the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Dragon is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Dean manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dragon's best efforts.
Dean is not content to let Dragon control the position.
Dean missing with punches from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
