Perez comes into the arena with Hollywood Undead - Hear Me Now blaring out of the sound system. Newton has chosen She Knows as his entrance music. The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez stuffs the takedown.
Perez connects with a nice looking jab.
It looks like Christopher Newton has been cut.
Perez checks a leg kick nicely.
A slapping leg kick lands for Perez.
Perez moves out of range as Newton throws a body kick.
Perez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Perez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Newton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Perez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Newton is in Perez's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Newton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Perez wants to stand but Newton is controlling the position.
Newton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Perez is keeping the position for now.
Perez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Newton on the ground.
Newton drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Perez dives on top into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Perez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Newton is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Perez has his hands clasped together but Newton extends and breaks Perez's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Newton.
