PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maxwell Koko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksander Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. His name is King kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Aleksander Gracie acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maxwell Koko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Aleksander Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Gracie.
Good exchange - Gracie coming out on top.

Koko shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gracie napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gracie manages to work his way to half guard, despite Koko's best efforts.
Gracie gets back to full guard.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Koko is aware though and is defending well.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koko avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Koko wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Koko pushes his legs off easily.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Gracie throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Koko escapes and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Koko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Koko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gracie is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koko is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gracie manages to work his way to half guard, despite Koko's best efforts.
Gracie wants to improve his position but Koko is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Koko sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gracie defending well though.
Gracie is trying to get back to full guard.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Koko pulls his head out easily.

Gracie is refusing to be controlled, as Koko sits in half guard.
Koko throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Koko looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Koko is trying to control. Gracie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Gracie is staying active underneath Koko, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Koko wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Koko is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gracie.
Gracie is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Koko's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Koko wants to work for an arm triangle but Gracie is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Koko pulls his head out easily.

Gracie bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Koko's head.
Gracie scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Maxwell Koko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gracie connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Koko on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Gracie lands a nice leg kick that just misses Koko's sensitive parts.
Gracie throws a nice inside leg kick.
Koko takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Gracie.

Aleksander Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koko takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie dips to his left and cracks Koko with an uppercut!

Gracie gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Koko to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Koko is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gracie has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Koko is looking to defend but Gracie has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Koko! Gracie pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Koko taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Aleksander Gracie!
A less than humble Aleksander Gracie misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
