PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maria Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kung Fu Panda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Panda moves into range and clinches up with Lester.
Lester is looking to break free of the clinch but Panda has double underhooks.

Panda pulls Lester into guard.
Lester chips away with some ground and pound.
Panda has momentary wrist control but Lester slips an elbow through the middle.
Lester knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Panda on the ground.

Panda throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lester got a little sloppy there for a moment and Panda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lester has managed to get both his arms back between Panda's legs - danger averted.
Lester wants to get up but he can't break Panda's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Panda throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lester escapes and throws Panda's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Lester swings around for an armbar but Panda sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lester's guard.

Panda comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Lester decides to pull guard.
Lester is pulling down on Panda's head. It's preventing any offense from Panda, at least for the moment.

Lester will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Panda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Panda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Panda has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lester can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lester's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Lester is working Panda over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Panda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lester gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

It looked like Lester was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
