Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Truman Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andres Gatmaitan!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatmaitan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Petersen takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Truman Petersen has been cut.

Petersen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gatmaitan's guard.
Petersen working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Petersen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Petersen won't allow Gatmaitan to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gatmaitan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Petersen controls the pace.
Petersen landing with the ground and pound.

Gatmaitan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Petersen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gatmaitan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Petersen is looking to clinch but Gatmaitan is avoiding it.
Gatmaitan misses with the combination.
Gatmaitan lunges at Petersen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Petersen's hand.
Gatmaitan throws a head kick but Petersen moves out of range.
Gatmaitan looks winded!
Donk. Gatmaitan catches Petersen right on the button with a cross.

Petersen rushes Gatmaitan and presses him up against the cage.
Petersen is trying to break the clinch but Gatmaitan has him pressed against the cage.
Gatmaitan has Petersen pressed against the cage, preventing Petersen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A nice left hand lands by Gatmaitan.
Petersen throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Petersen really is a fat lump.
Petersen tries to circle away but Gatmaitan has him pinned against the cage.
Gatmaitan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Petersen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gatmaitan gets a clinch.
Petersen wants to get back to striking at distance but Gatmaitan won't allow it.
Petersen tries to land knees in the clinch but Gatmaitan avoids the damage to the body.
A short uppercut from Gatmaitan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Petersen jumps guard but Gatmaitan stands there with Petersen around his waist. Petersen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Gatmaitan throws a knee to the head but misses.
Petersen is looking to break free of the clinch but Gatmaitan has double underhooks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Petersen tries to break free but Gatmaitan pushes him back against the cage.
Petersen working hard to break the clinch.
Petersen looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Petersen is trying to push Gatmaitan away but Gatmaitan has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Gatmaitan throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Petersen tries to throw a body punch but Gatmaitan avoids it by throwing Petersen back against the cage.
Gatmaitan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Petersen's efforts to push away.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
With the fighters up against the cage, Gatmaitan throws an elbow but misses.

Petersen avoids the elbow strike from Gatmaitan, against the cage.
Petersen is trying to force a seperation but Gatmaitan has the dominant position.
Gatmaitan lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Gatmaitan blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Petersen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gatmaitan just stands there and leans against the cage.
Petersen is trying to stall.
Gatmaitan scores with a knee to the head.


Truman Petersen's cut is getting worse.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Gatmaitan just misses with a elbow thrown towards Petersen's brow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Petersen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gatmaitan's elbow.
Gatmaitan gets through Petersen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Petersen tries to break the clinch but Gatmaitan is controlling the position.
Gatmaitan landing knees to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andres Gatmaitan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Truman Petersen's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gatmaitan leaves Petersen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gatmaitan throws a lazy head kick
and Petersen counters with a nice body shot.

Petersen feints and as Gatmaitan raises his hands in defense, Petersen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Petersen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Petersen's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Gatmaitan working for submissions but it's allowed Petersen to get to half guard.
Petersen stalling.

Gatmaitan is looking to improve his position.
Gatmaitan is breathing heavily.

Petersen slows the pace down in half guard.
Petersen working over Gatmaitan with some ground and pound. Gatmaitan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Petersen lands a nice short elbow.

Petersen wants to take a breather but Gatmaitan is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Gatmaitan pushes Petersen up against the cage in a clinch.

Petersen breaks the clinch.
Gatmaitan shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Petersen eats them both and turns towards Gatmaitan to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Petersen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gatmaitan looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Petersen is looking to counter with head kicks.
The fight stays on the outside here - Petersen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Petersen counters by clinching up.
Petersen has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gatmaitan swings wildly with an uppercut but Petersen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Petersen looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Petersen tries to break free but Gatmaitan pushes him back against the cage.
Gatmaitan lands an elbow inside that Petersen shrugs off.


Truman Petersen's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Gatmaitan lands a knee to the head.
Gatmaitan tries a knee to the head but Petersen blocks it.
Gatmaitan working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Gatmaitan gets through Petersen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Gatmaitan swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Petersen wants to break the clinch but can't.

Petersen has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Still in the clinch, Gatmaitan scores with a nice short uppercut.

Petersen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gatmaitan has him pressed against the cage.
Petersen tries to work over Gatmaitan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Gatmaitan using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Petersen has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Petersen is trying to break the clinch but Gatmaitan is controlling him.
Petersen's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Petersen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Andres Gatmaitan seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A right-left combo lands from Petersen.
Andres Gatmaitan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Petersen changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Petersen feints a jab promting Gatmaitan to slip. Petersen then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gatmaitan slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Gatmaitan throws a head kick that misses.
Nice body punch from Petersen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Truman Petersen will probably get the nod.

Petersen closes the distance and pushes Gatmaitan back into the cage.
Petersen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Petersen tries to break the clinch but Gatmaitan is controlling the position.
Gatmaitan lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Gatmaitan gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Andres Gatmaitan seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Gatmaitan connects with a knee to the head.


Jeez, Truman Petersen's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Truman Petersen's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Andres Gatmaitan!
An out of breath Andres Gatmaitan thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
